The Festival of Theaters
The Festival of Theaters is the oldest festival in Kosovo, which is organized mainly in October and is among the biggest cultural events of the year in Ferizaj. It was founded in 1970. Initially it functioned as an amateur festival, but after 2000 it became a professional festival, especially after 2008 with the participation of the best Albanian theater troupes from Prishtina, Tirana, Korça, Elbasan, Shkodra, Prizren, Peja, Gjakova, Gjilani, Ferizaj, Skopje, Dibra, Tetova, etc.
Festival “Kosovarja Këndon”
It is among the oldest festivals in Kosovo, which is organized in November. It is characterized by two main specifics, such as the emancipation of Albanian women in popular music, as well as the preservation of genuine Albanian music. This festival was founded in 1972 and is organized by AKV “Kastriotët” and the Directorate of Culture, Youth and Sports.
“FERFILM” festival
This festival was founded in 2013 by a group of Ferizaj artists from the field of cinematography. It is the first international festival to be held in Ferizaj, and since until now, about 700 international movies have been shown, and it has hosted over a hundred artists from around the world. Usually is organized in September.
“Mural Fest Kosova” festival
“Mural Fest Kosova” is established in the year of 2016, and so far, dozens of murals and artistic works have been realized. In recent years, this festival has managed to have the participation of artists from countries outside of Kosovo, where internationally renowned artists from Europe and America have presented their artistic works.
Festivals for children
“Happy Children” festival: This festival was founded in 1988 by a group of music artists, such as Veli Sahiti, Osman Berisha, Nazmi Aliu, etc. This is the first festival in Kosovo, which is dedicated to the interpretation of the song by young children. As such, it continues to be organized and supported by the Directorate for Culture, Youth and Sports. It is usually organized in June, within the International Children’s Day.
Festival of Reciters: It was founded in the 1980s, but for a long period of time it was not organized. This festival was brought back in 2013, and is now organized every year in May.
“Diamond Fest” festival: It was founded in 2014, and as such is organized every year.
“Sidorela” festival: It was founded in 2017, and as such is organized every year. In recent years, this festival has had participants from other countries, besides Kosovo.
“A-Mol” festival: It was founded in 2018, and as such is organized every year. In recent years, this festival has had participants from other countries, besides Kosovo.
